Our Mission

The South Lyon Lovewell-Hill Post 1224 is dedicated to improving the lives of veterans who have fought on foreign soil as well as all veterans in our community. We come from different branches of the service but have one voice to tell our story, advocate for our families, stand strong for the common defense of our nation and provide assistance, guidance and information.

Our Story

The Post was named in honor of Lucian Lovewell, a South Lyon resident who served in World War I. The post has stood for more than 60 years as haven for servicemembers,

Meet the Team

John Anderson

Post Commander

John is serving another year as commander of the post. He is a US Navy veteran and served in Viet Nam

John McMahon, Jr

Sr. Vice Commander

John serves as the Senior Vice Commander. He is a retired Lieutenant Colonel who served 30 years in the US Air Force and is a veteran of Desert Storm, Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. He is responsible for outreach programs at the post and serves in place of the commander when needed.

David Forsyth

Post Quartermaster

David is a US Army veteran. He served in Iraqi/Enduring freedom and manages our operations and finances.

James Plankey

Post Adjutant

James (Jim) Plankey is a US Army Veteran and served in Viet Nam. He manages our facilities and record keeping

Robert Nemeth

Post Surgeon

Robert is a US Army veteran. He served in Iraqi/Enduring freedom and manages our relationship with the VA
